I belive the first one and the second one are signs that racism still exists. I believe no culture should accept the "N" word because it is derrogatory and offensive no matter what context it is being used in. It is completely unacceptable and should come to an arubt stop. Racism is alive and well today. It will never come to an end for some people have horrible views and opinions on life and have an outlook on life that will be passed on from generation to generation.

There is a common use of the "N" word because, people want to find a way to become offensive. It is not used for racism anymore but, some people still do use it in that terminology. Other reasons are to draw attention to themselves. They believe that it can hurt someone's feelings and they will feel better about themselves. Really in Georgia it is just middle class, want to be hood, spoiled kids trying to be cool.

I feel as though your response to the public usage of the "N" word was spot on. Although the government is currently pressing the persona that racism was in the past and that it no longer exists, we all know that it is alive and healthy. Just look at all of the African American males that have been unfairly assaulted at the hands of the predominately Caucasian law enforcement agency. However, the word is not only used in Middle school, but also used in today's media as another form of slang that refers to an adversary or friend. I hope that this response has broadened your perspective of this topic.

I feel that people use this word so much because they refer to their friends as this word but for some people, they feel that the word should only be used by their culture. I think that these are signs that racism still exists because in times of slavery, there was another word that white people would refer to black people, and my theory is that some people started to embrace( in a good way) that that's who they really are. Honestly, I don't know where other people get the idea that only this certain amount of people can use this word, it might be because social media influenced it. For example, on one social media called Vine, a lot of people feel that white people shouldn't use that word and that if their black friend calls them that, they get so happy. Is it because they finally feel like they're one of them? I thought that we were all equal, but I guess society today is preventing that.

Racism is someone's own opinion or discrimination towards another race. Those 6 girls, in my opinion, are idiots. They think it's a joke and they thought African-Americans wouldn't find it offensive. Now that picture is viral across social media. And if I'm not mistaken, I believe that everyone of the African-American students in this class WANTED to say something inappropriate, but couldn't, since this is a school assignment. Sure, some people might throw around that word, but they use it in a different content. So in that case, it's accepted because it's how they want to call someone. I don't think that there is a "fascination" with the "N" word, however, because a lot of young African Americans have begun to use it as a term of endearment, people of other races assume they may do it as well. This is similar to when girls began to use the "B" word as a nickname or whatever with their friends. While a lot of young people have begun to use the "N" word as a term of endearment, when coming from a racist bigot or a racist hick (whatever you want to call them), it is just a sign of racism towards Blacks. The first example is purely ignorance, nothing more and nothing less. The way that the girls are smiling shows that they do not understand the severity of the situation. Unfortunately, ignorance is not an excuse and hopefully the comments the girls received on their picture will educate them on the topic. The second was most likely placed by a black person, but I wouldn't be surprised if an individual of another race did. That picture also shows ignorance, but it also shows the comfort associated with it. No one in their right minds would do that only a few years ago. So overall, neither shows racism, or at least intentional racism. If everyone was knowledgeable about the word, posts like these would decrease tremendously. The fact of the matter is, people think that the word is just another word, and that's the problem.

If anyone has the right to say nigger, its black people. But even we shouldn't be proud of the word. Those girls in that picture are disrespectful and ignorant. They know exactly what that word means and that their ancestors did not use that word in a playful way. When I say ignorant, I mean they are ignorant to the fact that the word nigger isn't funny. The fact that all those girls are white makes it a tad bit racist.(I'm sorry a lot bit) But like the bible says, they know not what they do. I think the photos are trying to say that the "N" word is accepted by society now. I don't think it is though. It is still wrong to call people names based off of their race. Also, it's really rude to stand there and smile about it as if it doesn't have a negative meaning. People need to realize where we came from and respect it.

I think the people in the picture means no harm, and it shows that the society has accepted the word. I also believe people should not refer to someone using that word.

I agree with this statement, no one should be referred to by that word under no circumstance.

I think it is wrong for people to be wearing or broadcasting the n word. It makes people seem ignorant and it makes it seem like the past doesn't matter. Black African Americans have accepted this word for themselves but if another races calls them the n word it is wrong, but they are wrong if your offended by one race calling you something then you should know that's not what you should use to refer to yourself. Some people are only just joking when they use it, but others try to use it to hide the fact that racism is back ad hasn't left. You will never know if someone is insulting you, and you will only make yourself seem ignorant and foolish.

I feel that these picture are very racist. These girls should not have posted a picture like this. wearing these shirts with a smile on their faces is inapropriate. Whoever put these girls up to it should be ashamed and fired from the school.

I believe that these are signs of racism and that it should not be allowed. I also feel that the pictures are the cultures accepting the word more or less they are making fun of it. This is simply people making fun of the word and passing it off as a joke.

I think that in both pictures, it isn't racism being shown but it is just the new generation joking around. Lots of kids these days use the "N" word as a term to call other kids at school or in public. I think that they just don't realize the offensive way that some people see it. The elderly see it in a incredibly offensive way because they know how it felt to be called that in the old days, but now that racism is at a low rate, the new generation just don't realize what it means to people who do.

I know where you are coming from with them joking around I just think someone or a few might take it seriously and then other will retaliate and then we are the "bad guys"

I disagree with you because it was uncalled for and it is racism because they were laughing in the picture so obviously they are taking our race as a joke.

Daniel I do agree with you. since the "N" word is not used to offend anyone nowadays. Just like the word "Bruh" its just a word to call others. IT means no harm, but that doesn't mean people don't take it that way.

I that in both pictures the people who did that were wrong. I also think that us African Americans should not get offended when other race calls or uses the "N" word. If we don't want any races calling us out of our name then maybe we should stop calling each other the "N" word and start treating each other with respect. Also the T~shirts were uncalled for because I don't think that they needed to get attention that bad were they go and do something like that.

I think that these are more signs racism is still in play. I really don't blame the people in the pictures I blame the people who let them do this or the parents that taught them that isn't wrong. To some they might it as a joke I think that if they were to continue it think that it would more serious.

It's pretty weird because we call each of that word but when someone of a different race say it we call it racism. We're making it ok to say in public. It was originally use to describe blacks in America or associated with them. Now it basically means to be black. The people probably think it's already accepted. If we paint the picture are they wrong for accepting it

I agree with you Gabriel because if you say the word to different races, they are going to think that it is fine to say the N word.

I think white people think that they have excepted black people so they think they can use the same words we use despite their culture and ethnicity. I think this is a sign that racism still exists because those girls know what your ancestors did to black people so it is disrespectful on all levels. People in the store Michael's intentionally took the letters down the shelf to spell the N word so it isn't okay for other cultures to say that word.

The "N" word seems to be flowing out of mouths like a waterfall. People are saying it left and right like it"s nothing. They are probably not aware that the "N" word was actually a disrespectful and racist word back when slavery and segregation was still here. It seems as African Americans have accepted it. African Americans often call each other the "N" word. And they think its okay! But at soon as a Caucasian says the "N" word, they're racist and are ready to start World War 3. All cultures have accepted it, and I don't think they should.

I don't know why people would post pictures of the "N" word. It might be that the "N" word is like a new fad of 2016. The "N" word might actually be an acceptance to the "N" word in all cultures, but that doesn't mean that they should publicly display the word on social media. Honestly, I think that it's a stupid thing to do, but I can't stop it from happening.

I believe that this shows that racism is still real. These people have been raised to not like black people, and to call them the "N|" word. These pictures are very inappropriate.

I disagree because lots of African-Americans call each other the "N" word, and they don't have a problem with it. When a person from another race calls someone an "N" word they get offended. Why?

I believe these two pictures are showing racism. Mainly the one with the letters on the shelf. I don't exactly understand why the girls in the first picture thought it was ok to where those shirts. I get it, people want to except others and be equal, though the "N" word was used as a way to offend African Americans, its not a word of respect. So no matter if they meant well it is still rude. That is not one of the words you would hear in a speech for equal rights that's for sure. Also if its a word that you have to censor of have to call it the "N" word to feel fine with saying it, then it is most definitely unacceptable to be used/shown in the ways it has been in these pictures.

I believe that people should stop saying the word completely. It's very offensive no matter what tone or context it is in. Racism still exists and will forever exist if people keep using the "N" word. Black people don't approve of others calling them the "N" word because of the history behind their cultures. The pictures are inappropriate and should be taken down.

I think society fails to understand that the 'N' word is offensive no matter what race uses it. White people used it to insult Black people and when black people say it to each other they don't understand that it is still degrading, no matter what race says it to what race. It is rude for African Americans to call white people crackers, just like it is disrespectful for them to call us the 'N' word. In my opinion the 'N' word and any other form of racial disrespect should no longer be said by any race in a degrading way, or even a nickname.

When looking at the post that have been going on social media about people using the "N' word thing the first thing that I thought about was that racism is still existing. I think the reason that people are doing this is so that they can see how the African Americans will react. They think that we will react in a negative way. This is very disrespectful so we need to put a stop to it.

I feel like this is not a sign of racism. African-Americans are often calling each other the “N” word, so other people probably just try to fit in and say it too, but African-Americans get offended when others call them the “N” word.

I believe that the "N" word shouldn't be used at all no matter what race. I understand why its very offensive if a caucasion person were to say this to an African American rather than an African American saying it to another African american. This is just the way a lot of people think but I believe the word has no good meaning especially with the background of it. The fact that it comes from slavery and it was a negative term used against African Americans should show you that it isn't a word we should use.

I believe that this is the most offensive and dumbest thing ever. This is just a phase the America is going through. I can not believe that the citizens of America would stoop this low. Using a word that remind people of the vicious treatment of their ancestors in the past is stupid. I can't even express the anger that I have toward these people and these pictures. These people should consider who they are offending and hurting when they post pictures like these on social media. Social media creates places on the internet that everyone can see, so I believe that most people SHOULD be offended by this picture. This is just so horribly, painfully stupid I makes me feel ashamed and afraid of what America might become in the future. People should just not post anything if they want to be racist about it.

I think that those women are taking that picture for fun because they think that its cool and funny in their perspective. From my perspective I think its rude selfish and disrespectful, beacause if they went through what our black past went through they wouldn't be so happy. that second picture is just ignorant, like who would go in a store just to do that?!?!

I believe that these pictures mock the way that the N word was used some time ago. Some people believe now that racism "Does not exist" that we can all joke and laugh about it when it really didn't happen all that much long ago. It may not be something to them but for some those scars have not healed.

I believe that these pictures show that since the "N" word is used so often people just think they can use it whenever. I do not refer to it as being racist because it is used often. I agree with Jeff Legendre when he said it can be being used in a joke kind of way while also being used in a offensive type of way. I believe this is what is going on in these pictures. Whether it is a joke or not the use of the "N" word needs to come to an end.

i am white....some of my favorite comedians (men and women) are black and use the word frequently....when used in this context by comedians of color, I do not find that it is offensive in any way...and sorry, i love these comedians and their perspective and delivery....BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE....though I do not think that the word should be banished (in fact I hope it lives on-read on)....i do think that ONLY people of color have the copyright to use it....it is POTENT...it is HISTORY...it is history permeated with blood, suffering, degradation, evil, saddness....it is a word that was used by white men like a sword to dehumanize a population in the most atrocious ways....so can a white person ever venture to have rights to use this word- NEVER....but a person of color....see, it's different....a person of color using this word is like taking the sword back from the oppressor and saying 'you didn't break me!' .........or to put this simply: if you're a whitie dummie teenager whose greatest suffering to date is a 3% charge left on an iphone ....and you get punched out because you wear the shirts depicted in the photo above- sorry girl, you deserve it....
