I believe that when kids have structured thinking that better learning emerges because students will only focus on that specific subject or topic. I think that once anyone has set there mind and focus on that one thing that they can successfully accomplish it.

Structured learning is great because it gives a chance to learn better and understand topics better. It makes the standard more clear and easier to learn if the child wants to but at the end that's what it comes up to.

I agree with how the article states that learning will only occur when the learner does something with that information. Therefore if we are not breaking down our learning to the fullest then we wont capture the information.

When a student is focused on their thoughts about a subject they can fully immerse themselves in the concept, and significantly comprehend the subject. Most of the time students might go through a subject, and learn it then, but never fully retain the information for future uses (this statement comes from experience). Thinking about their thinking could help that person understand, or correct their thinking.

The article from Mind Shift is saying that the easiest way for students to retain information is not only through being taught it. The information must be processed by the student through metacognition. This includes monitoring thinking and direct thinking. It was said that this way is the most effective way for students to challenge their thinking. As Ritchhart said, " Becoming a meta- strategic thinker is crucial for understanding and becoming a life- long learner."

The article, "When Kids Have Structure For Thinking, Better Learning Emerges" is about how we can develop strategical thinkers and learners from a small age. The article talks about how in order to have an amazing generation of efficient thinkers, we must start in the classroom. In the article, it states, "If we don’t have those strategies, if we aren’t aware of them, then we’re waiting for someone else to direct our thinking.” That is a very scary thought if you think about it. Someone manipulating you and basically telling you what to think and how to think? That is exactly what the Project Zero team is trying to prevent. Raise a generation of people who think for themselves.

I do believe structured thinking could help increase a student's learning. Structured thinking identifies areas which requires a deeper understanding, so the student can really grasp the subject. As the passage states, "And most powerfully, directing thinking happens when students can call upon specific thinking strategies to redirect or challenge their own thinking." Which means for the student to actually know the subject, they have to challenge themselves and monitor how they learn. Structured thinking can help improves students thinking problem.

I believe this because structured learning allows you to see from different points and different ways to understand the topic. I also believe that by naming what you're learning allows the student to understand that they are focusing on a certain topic. After reading this article i do believe that structured thinking is the best for kids like me. Since you can't really take in everything in one bite you have to break things into small pieces and learn about their own weaknesses for them to master the subject as a whole so overall its a great thing for students even though it may take a little for some people but everyone has their own pace for things.

If a teacher actually takes the time to make sure the student understands what they're reading, kids reading levels could be through the roof. A lot of kids read books and simply skip over the words that they don't know, but if the teacher focused more on vocabulary, you could see the real potential in kids. By focusing on individual students can help them become successful men and women in the future.

The idea of structured learning is a very well thought out one. From experience, I have learned that if you are not fully immersed in a subject, it makes it harder for the student to comprehend and retain the information. If you immerse yourself in your learning you can have a better understanding of what it is you are learning.

What I got from the article is that you can't simply give information and expect the student to learn and apply it. It's more helpful to use structured learning such as a thinking routine. For example in the article Harvard teachers used "see, think, wonder". It did work better than their previous method, those who used it improved more than those who had not.

I think that the article is true because I myself find that when I am interested and I want to think about how the things I learn work, I find myself remembering those things more and I find myself better at those subjects then others that I have no interest or motivation to think for. I think having structured learning and thinking would benefit kid's education. Structured learning allows children to think deeper and have more in-depth thinking. When a kid stops reading and realizes that they don't understand what they are reading that is called monitoring thinking. Different strategies can allow kids to become more versatile in their thinking. If our schools have more structured learning, children could expand their knowledge and develop in new ways.
