Using the knowledge gained through The Devil's Arithmetic novel study and video, in at least two paragraphs, elaborate on how the events of the "Holocaust" are relevent to Black History (specifically Slavery and the Civil Rights Movement).

The events from the Holocaust are very similar to those of slavery. In both slavery and the Holocaust the targets were treated unkindly. In both situations the Jews and African-Americans were forced to forget all of their traditions. They are also forced to change their names. For example in the Holocaust, Jews were forced to identity numbers. In Slavery slaves were forced to change their names to their masters names.

The Holocaust and the events from slavery are very similar. Innocent people, just like Jews and Africans were tortured and badly treated. These people were separated for their religion and skin color for work and no pay. During slavery, people stood up for blacks and their distreatment. During the Holocaust, I am sure that people stood up.

The selection relates to Black history, because it was racism in the Holocaust. Hitler did not like Jews because they were different. In Black history, The White people did not like Blacks for the same reason. Also they Owned Black people as slaves. Adolf Hitler Put the Jews in concentration camps to work and suffer.

The Holocaust mirrors slavery almost perfectly. In the Holocaust, Jews were targeted for being the cause of Germany's downfall and were then targeted for mass genocide. Slavery on the other hand, while not as genocidal (African-Americans were still killed), African-Americans were targeted because Caucasians felt as if they were not worthy enough to live on their own, and ended up working for Caucasians. As Jews were branded with some type of prison number, African-Americans were branded with their master's last name. If Jews and Blacks were to argue about something, there would be no need as they both share something in common.

The holocaust and slavery are very similar. In the holocaust, Jews were forced to work, just like Africans. If they were sick, too young,or too old, were killed.all African Americans worked until they were killed or died. The holocaust happened because of racism against the Jewish and their religion. Jews fought for their freedom just as African Americans did.

The Holocaust is related to black slavery by the fact that it was forced upon and violence was used on one particular group of ethnicity and religion. The Holocaust used concentration camps and blacks were on plantations. The situations that happen to Jews and blacks are not that different seeing as Jews were just put to blame for the country's problems, and people wanted to control blacks but they were both hated. Both fought freedom and forced into labor. Although, even after blacks were free they were still hated and treated differently, but i am not aware if the same thing happen to jews.

The blacks had to fight for their freedom just to be around white people. That's why we have these great African american people today. They were the ones who stood for what they believe in, and since I can't find any trace of Jewish discrimination I don't know any Jewish heroes. My research shows that their weren't necessarily any Jewish heroes during the Holocaust either. After I seen the Devil's Arithmetic movie and read the book and then go back on some knowledge about black slavery I have the opinion that blacks had it harder than Jews.

The Holocaust is similar to blacks and slavery because innocent people would be tortured or killed just because of their race/religion. Another way is because they both had to be in places where they had to work or die. Next, they both were taken from their homes and taken to work places. People had to die for no reason. Finally, they are both treated unfairly.

The blacks and Jews both had to be teased or assaulted just because of their race. They both had to live up to their commanders name or else there would be bad consequences. They both even had to live in terrible conditions. Finally, they both had to eat little to no food.

The events of the holocaust and the events of slavery compare in many ways. First, they were both based on one race or religion. Which were African American people for slavery and Jewish people for the holocaust. Second, they were both a frightening events in the history for both race/religion(s). This is because thousands of their ancestors died during these two events.

To me the holocaust and slavery had a lot of similarities. For one they both had to do with forced labor. Then you had beatings and hangings. Plus if you tried to escape you were tortured, and then killed. the people that were being killed in both situations were innocent, they did nothing to anybody.

The Holocaust is closely related to the times of slavery. Innocent people were forced against their will to work in terrible conditions. Millions of Jews were murdered. Tons of Slaves were killed. All of this was caused by greed of power and money. Hitler wanted power. The southerners wanted Cotton and money. From my knowledge of the book, both events are equally wrong. Just like how the Jews were judged by their religion African Americans were judged based on the color of their skin.

The holocaust relates to slavery because people were treated horrible.Jews were forced to work and were beaten when they refused.African Americans were beaten because they wanted justice and peace for their people. Both jews and blacks had a hard time trying to be free because of the torture and horrific treatment they were put through. These two races wanted peace for their people. It is horrible that regular people have to get beaten, bruised, and put in jail just for standing up for their rights. Those two time periods in history are terrible and unhuman-like.

I think that the holocaust is relavent to black history and slavery because people were treated very poorly. They also were abused and killed when they tried to escape. the Jews and African Americans were being forced to work with no pay or sentimentality. They both were brutally injured by their owner or dictator.

The events of the holocaust and slaver are very similar. They were both taken away from their homes and forced to work or be killed. There were revolts, escapes, and heros through their times. The were both agonizing periods to be part of being so long (even though slavery was much longer).

The holocaust portrays slavery very much. Both Jews and African Americans were treated brutally if they did not nlisten to what they were told. Jews were targeted because of their religion, while African Americans were targeted to work on plantations for Caucasians. Many Jews and African Americans died from these harsh conditions. Some of them lived to see their freedom.

The Holocaust is very similar to black history. I say this because both are based on racism. Slavery was based on white people hating black people. While the holocaust was based on Germans hating the Jews. They both had similar purposes as well.

There are many similarities between the holocaust, and the events of slavery. One was the transition. During the holocaust's start, Jews were told they would be taken to another place, that was better then where they were. In slavery, that also happened. Africans were taken from Africa, being told that they were being taken to another place, which was America.

The Holocaust is very similar to the Civil Rights Movement and Slavery. Just how African Americans were taken and made do work Jews had to to the same just in a camp. The Germans would trick the Jews though. They were told that they were going to take a shower but they really burned them. African Americans went through a lot as well. When they said something whites did not like they were beaten brutally.

The Holocaust is similar to Black History because they were both fueled by racism. Both had people's rights taken away because of their race. They were both giving poor shelter. They were also given little to no food. They also kept people no matter how old they were.

The holocaust and black history is almost the same thing. The holocaust is apart of black history. They both had a part of segregation and racism in the Holocaust and Black history. In the holocaust they forced jews to to work, but in black history we were slaves and stuff like that. Everything in black history wasnt bad though, us black people had a lot of accomplishments and achievements.

We have Rosa Parks who fought for blacks to sit wherever they want on the bus. Most people didnt like black people to succed but that did not stop the blacks!

The Holocaust and black history are very common in a way. For example they were both enslaved and forced to do work without pay. Also if they didn't comply they were physically abused in a way. Like how the Africans were whipped and and killed. Afterwards they were segregated like the Jews.

The Holocaust is very similar to slavery. The Holocaust includes Jewish people. Slavery included African Americans. Adolf Hitler was the leader of Holocaust. On the other hand slavery was ever since biblical times in this senerio though slavery has been going on for 200 years. No one knows who started slavery to be honest.

The Holocaust is similar to slavery, and the Civil Rights Movement because it was a struggle for Human Rights. In the Holocaust the Jews were not seen as people. That were forced to do unpaid labour, and if they didn't they would be hung and or punished. Many people, just like in slavery, many people tried to escape, and many felt no one cares for them.

I believe that the holocaust and the events from slavery are relevant because both were events of genocide. People aimed a direct hate against these cultures. They blamed all there problems on these people. Germans and Whites thought just because there not us there a problem. Both the Holocaust and Slavery people where hurt. It is still an important event.

I believe along with my other peers that the holocaust is similar to slavery because it had to do with genocide and also some of there ways of torture and harassment. Even though they were so closely related i feel as if the holocaust was more drastic and terrible. Almost everyone from different races blamed their problems on them, and they didn't even know them! They wanted to get rid of them hoping that their problems would fade away but to be honest i don't think they did.
